Cyber Security Month
Every October, we run a month of events, resources and activities to help everyone across the university stay safer online.
What it is
Cyber Security Month is an international awareness campaign that runs throughout October. Universities, businesses and governments around the world use it to focus attention on staying safe online.
Our programme is open to all staff and students. Everything is free and most sessions take less than an hour.
Events and activities
The full programme is announced each September. Previous years have included:
- Spot the phish. A live session showing real phishing emails and how to recognise them
- Password clinic. Drop in and get help setting up a password manager
- Lunch and learn. Short talks from the IT Security team, open to everyone
- Security quiz. A team quiz with prizes, run in partnership with the Students Union
- Ask us anything. An open session where you can raise any security concern
How to get involved
Come along to any session that interests you, no booking required for most events. If your department would like a session run specifically for your team, get in touch with the IT Security team and we will arrange it.
You can also get ahead of the campaign by completing your training and reading through the Cyber Essentials guidance.
